Little League off to a lightning start

This week’s game saw Taipans face off against Mustangs - the newest team to join the little league competition.

Despite only having a little team of 7, Connor was put into outfield to run around a lot and get all the balls that came outfield, thankfully there was not many. But after the first inning, they got two players from Jets; Tilly and Cooper, to help Connor out.

First inning Archer was pitching, Sarah on 1st, Chase on 2nd, Jack on short stop, Daniel on 3rd, Connor outfield and Lachie catching, and it went nicely. Archer’s pitching was amazing, and he was very close to getting out one of the Jets running home. Unfortunately though, the ball just slipped out of his glove - A very close call! Overall, Archer’s pitching was impressive and getting increasingly better week by week! Archer is an amazing little player, one of the best players and he’s the youngest! Marvelous!

Lachie’s catching the whole game was also thrilling catching lots of the balls. With his long throws, he is a good catcher of the Taipans Little League games. Helping with getting people out and watching over the home plate. He also always is encouraging his teammates and fun to talk to.

Connor did a good job outfield. Luckily, there was not many balls, but he did excellent running for the ball when it was hit outfield. Especially when the ball hit was almost a home run!

Almost all of the players got good big hits this game with Jack being so close to a home run although unfortunately it hit out of the cones so he could only run two bases. Too far! Fortunately, Lachie got a homerun, the only homerun that game and the first homerun this season! The Taipans team was very happy for him, and everyone was clapping. Daniel’s hit was also nice and helped him get a lot of bases with his fast and effortless-looking running.

Jack’s pitching was extraordinary! No batter could make it past him! With his fast and accurate pitches, no one even made it past the plate! The inning went by fast with, luckily, no injuries by the fast pitches and many strikes. The first three people to pitch were striked out. It was very inspiring. Good job Jack!

As well as his fantastic pitches, he also had great hits.

Sarah’s passion for batting kept her in the game, after getting hit (lightly) in the leg, she asked to keep batting unfortunately only getting 4 balls to get to the base no hit.

Chase had an amazing game like always! After helping with 2nd, he helped in outfield. Week by week, you can see how Chase is getting better at baseball! Improvements take time but after time, you can see the difference looking back!

Tilly and Cooper from Jets were also a great help with Tilly helping in left field and Cooper helping in short stop after just going away to represent Peninsula. It really helped Connor, would’ve been tiring being the only outfielder the whole game!

Also, a special thanks to Finn (sorry if that’s spelt wrong) from Jets for his first game umpiring over the plate! He did amazing and made no mistake umpiring his own grade then playing with his team afterward.

Today’s Cone-Head-Bonehead was Connor for getting hit on his head 4 times! The cone-head-bone-head is a funny award for doing something silly or funny such as throwing the ball up instead of straight or something silly/funny. Currently, we do not have a hat or representation of the award as the cone head has been lost somewhere but Sarah is on searching for a new funny piece.

And the award for Best Player was Jack for his amazing pitches and outstanding batting as well. It was well-earned and he definitely deserved the finger bun and fruit plate. Enjoy and bon appetite Jack for your incredible work!
